Our Mission Statement

We, the Synod of the Covenant,
in partnership with
our presbyteries, congregations, the General Assembly
and other faith communions,
are called and sent by God
to be a living, active and inclusive witness
to the love of Christ.

Our Impact

Mobile Health Fairs (MHF)
MHF conducted 38 free health fairs throughout Michigan and Ohio.

Mission to the USA (MUSA)
MUSA completes the first of three years focus on the Middle East and hosted 5 International Church Partners from Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and Palestine. They served 5 congregations in Michigan and Ohio and lead a seminar at the November Assembly.

Self Development of People
The Synod funded 3 projects totaling $30,000.

MulticulturalYouth Conference (MCYC)
22 high school students, 2 youth, and 4 adults led the Synod’s third MCYC together with the Covenant Gathering at Michindo in Hillsdale, MI.

Covenant Gathering
72 Presbyterians from the Synod of the Covenant and  the Synod of Lincoln Trails gathered last summer. The intergenerational retreat featured 7 adult classes on Bible Study, Spirituality of Earth, Living Simply, Worship Style, Christian Education, and Spiritual Photography. www.covenantgathering.com

Black Theology and Pastoral Care Retreat
17 African American Teaching Elders met with deans and professors of Johnson C. Smith, Columbia and Louisville Seminaries at the Irv Moxley Black Theology and Pastoral Care Retreat at Quaker Hill Retreat Center in Richmond, Indiana. Discussion centered around the future of theological education for African American Clergy.

Scholarships
51 Higher Educations Scholarships for Racial Ethnic students for a total of $40,000.
3 Peacemaking Scholarships were awarded for a total of $1,500.

Grants
8 New Covenant Grants totaling $45,000.
(Total requests were $194,504 from 9 presbyteries)
3 Racial Ethnic Ministry Grants totaling $6,000.
1 Peacemaking Grant for $500.

Cabinet on Ethnic Church Affairs
The moderators of CECA caucus read, studied, and discussed Jacqueline Battalora’s book,Birth of a White Nation in preparation for the White Privilege Conference in Louisville, March 2015.
